Libby Wheelchairs and Knee Scooters Aid Surgery Recovery

For Libby residents recovering from surgery, injury, or illness, the Libby Senior Center’s free medical equipment loan program has long served as the only local source for wheelchairs and knee scooters. But growing demand has made the existing supply insufficient and worn beyond safe use. With no local vendors, residents face a long drive to rent similar equipment or must purchase their own, options that place real burdens on many seniors in the community. Staff with Senior Citizens of Lincoln County, which operates the senior center, identified a solution and reached out to LOR for support. LOR’s funding will help Senior Citizens of Lincoln County and the Libby Senior Center purchase eleven wheelchairs and five knee scooters, including heavy-duty options. The updated stock will ensure that Libby residents can recover safely at home.
