Lander’s Baseball Rodeo Brings the Town Together

  • Local Champion: Hudson Baptist Church
  • Date Funded: July 25, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $12,750

Baseball is one of Lander’s favorite pastimes, but with two different leagues, some kids don’t have opportunities to interact with other local players. Plus, some youth in the community who are more drawn to the arts have fewer opportunities to engage with sports-centric summer programming. To address this issue, locals are planning to launch an annual baseball “rodeo” in which the two teams can play together and engage more of the community with silly rules, fan-participation between innings, and other carnival-style events. LOR helped make the event possible by providing funding for supplies including a dunk tank, food, and fees for umpires.
