Lander Musicians Bring Jazz to the Classroom

Middle and high school students in Lander are rarely exposed to live music—and it’s not often they have opportunities to hear a variety of genres, like jazz and blues. That lack of exposure can be a problem for kids who may want to pursue music as a hobby or career, as hearing diverse music styles might be the spark kids need to pick up an instrument of their own. To address this issue, the band director at Lander Middle School hoped to bring in local jazz group WYOJazz to host clinics at Lander’s middle and high school, as well as to perform on a regular basis—and LOR helped make it possible by covering the cost of the group’s time.
