Good Footing: A Shoe Drive Helps Libby Students Start the School Year Strong

  • Local Champion: Lincoln County Unite for Youth
  • Date Funded: August 13, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $3,500

For the last several years, Northwest Montana United Way has helped Libby families prepare for school, providing students with much needed supplies. But due to financial constraints, the nonprofit had to limit its shoe donation program in 2024, leaving many families on the hook. Staff with Lincoln County Unite for Youth began collaborating with local charities, businesses, and other organizations to fill in the gap and create a local back-to-school shoe donation program. But they needed help getting the program off the ground, so they reached out to LOR. LOR’s funding will help Lincoln County Unite for Youth purchase 100 pairs of shoes for K-12 students, laying the groundwork for future fundraising and donations.
