Free Financial Workshops Promote Economic Stability in Cortez

  • Local Champion: A Cortez local
  • Date Funded: April 25, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

Many Cortez residents struggle with financial stress due to high debt and limited understanding of personal finance, impacting their families’ wellbeing and future security. A former teacher and community volunteer recognized the lack of financial training for Cortez students and residents, so he came up with a solution to expand local financial education. LOR’s funding helped the local rent a venue and purchase the supplies to lead a series of ten free financial literacy workshops covering topics from basic banking to homeownership, giving participants practical tools to reduce debt, create effective budgets, and build long-term financial stability.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Onward! A Legacy Foundation.
