Final Furnishings Help Launch Taos’ New Business Resource and Innovation Center

  • Local Champion: Downtown Taos
  • Date Funded: March 25, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $29,995

Entrepreneurs and small business owners in Taos County have long had to navigate a fragmented system of compliance and support services spread across multiple organizations and locations, making it difficult to access training, permitting guidance, and technical assistance in a timely way. This lack of coordination has been especially challenging for new entrepreneurs who need clear, centralized support to get started.

To address this barrier, local partners developed a collaborative solution: the Business Resource and Innovation Center (BRIC), Taos’ first centralized business hub bringing key support services together under one roof. As renovations neared completion, a team member at Taos MainStreet approached LOR with a final need: furnishing the shared public spaces so the center can fully support trainings, consultations, and collaborative programming.

With support from LOR, Taos MainStreet will purchase furniture for the BRIC’s workroom, conference room, and training spaces—areas designed to host entrepreneurs, workshops, and partner programming. The center will house on-site services from the Town of Taos Planning & Zoning, Taos County Economic Development, Taos County Planning & Zoning, the Taos County Chamber of Commerce, UNM-Taos Small Business Development Center, and UNM-Taos HIVE, creating a true “one-stop shop” for business support and establishing a long-term community asset that strengthens Taos’ entrepreneurial ecosystem.
