Farmers Market Expansions Strengthen an Important Community Asset in Questa

  • Local Champion: Localogy
  • Date Funded: October 17, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $15,110

The Questa Farmers Market’s work to support small farm, garden, and food-based businesses is extremely important to the Questa community. In addition to providing an essential source of income for producers in the area, the market offers residents affordable access to fresh, locally grown food during the summer months. As an organization, the Questa Farmers Market also provides youth with hands-on experience in community event facilitation and small business operations through their internship and mentorship programs.

Nearly 10 years after the market’s initial founding, the director saw an opportunity to expand the size and impact of these efforts so she reached out to LOR for help to serve even more of the community.

LOR’s support will fund market and internship program improvements, including but not limited to materials to build and launch youth-managed pizza and coffee stands, expanded intern and mentor stipends, increased budget for local musicians to provide entertainment at weekly summer/fall markets, and garden supplies and outdoor furniture to beautify the market grounds.
