Embroidery Machine Expands Student Business at Sargent High School

  • Local Champion: Sargent School District NO. Re-33j
  • Date Funded: February 24, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $5,357

Monte Vista students have limited access to meaningful work-based learning opportunities, and the school-based T-shirt printing business cannot expand student involvement further.

After running Potato Printing successfully for three years and serving 45 students, the Business Teacher and FBLA Advisor at Sargent High School contacted LOR with an idea to expand the student-led business.

LOR’s funding will help purchase an embroidery machine, thread, and stabilizing materials, enabling students to create embroidered products like hats, polos, and tote bags in addition to their current screen-printing services. The expanded business will provide more hands-on experience in design, marketing, accounting, and customer service while meeting existing demand from local businesses and sports programs that have already requested embroidery services.
