Cortez’s Quilts of Valor Chapter Honors Local Veterans

  • Local Champion: Four Corners Quilts of Valor
  • Date Funded: July 15, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $3,960

Some Cortez-area veterans feel their military service and sacrifices go unnoticed in the community, a problem one local quilter set out to solve. Having participated in Quilts of Valor previously, she decided to start a local chapter to honor area veterans. LOR’s funding helped the Four Corners Quilts of Valor chapter purchase fabric, batting, thread, and marketing materials to jump-start their volunteer quilting program. The new chapter will make and distribute 30 quilts for Cortez veterans and active military members, providing tangible recognition of their service while building awareness of veteran contributions throughout the community.
