Cheer Gear and Coaching Takes Team Spirit to New Heights in Taos

  • Local Champion: Taos Municipal Schools
  • Date Funded: February 6, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $9,945

Cheerleading offers many physical and mental health benefits, but with an underresourced high school team, no gymnastics facilities in Taos, and many young athletes unable to afford the costs associated with the sport, students were losing out on the opportunity to maximize those advantages. A local high schooler contacted LOR with a solution: purchase the equipment needed for the entire team to participate in regional competitions and hire a tumbling coach to train her and her fellow cheerleaders on advanced skill and safety techniques. LOR’s support enabled the school to purchase new gear for the high school cheer team and contract a tumbling coach who will facilitate six professional coaching sessionstaking the Taos Tigers’ team spirit to a whole new level.
