Bike Racks Make Riding to School and Activities More Feasible in Lander

  • Local Champion: Fremont County School District #1
  • Date Funded: June 27, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $4,000

Many Lander students who bike to classes and activities at the Fremont County School District #1 central office risk having their bike stolen, and many who would bike don’t because of the risk, limiting transportation options for students. So staff at Lights On in Lander—an after-school and summer program for K-6th graders in Lander—came up with a simple solution: Install bike racks at the building to encourage more kids to commute on their bikes without worry about losing them. The group reached out to LOR for a little help to launch. LOR’s funding will support the installation of a bike rack that can hold up to seven bikes.
