Artificial Insemination Training Strengthens Skills for Cortez Women in Agriculture

  • Local Champion: Agricultural Women of the Southwest
  • Date Funded: February 21, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $2,035

Women working in agriculture around Cortez have long faced barriers to accessing specialized training that could help grow their businesses, with many educational courses only offered in distant locations and at prohibitive costs. When a local volunteer who coordinates the group Agricultural Women of the Southwest learned about an artificial insemination certification course coming to the Cortez Ag Expo, she saw a unique opportunity to make this valuable training accessible. LOR’s funding helped cover the costs for five local women to complete the class, allowing participants to diversify their agricultural businesses and strengthen the local farming community.
