Anti-Choking Devices Enhance Safety in Libby Schools

  • Local Champion: Libby K-12 Schools
  • Date Funded: May 9, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $1,011

With more than 600 children eating meals and snacks every day, the risk of choking is ever present in Libby’s public schools. But teachers currently lack any equipment to assist during choking emergencies. Instead, they must rely solely on basic first aid techniques, which aren’t always effective and often require leaving other students unattended. One local teacher decided to put an end this problem, so she reached out to LOR with a solution. LOR’s funding will help Libby Public Schools purchase 14 LifeVac anti-choking devices to be distributed throughout the district’s buildings. The portable, non-invasive tools will provide staff with additional lifesaving assistance, ensuring students receive immediate help during critical moments.
