Adding an Outdoor Space Gives Lander Community Groups a Place to Gather

  • Local Champion: Evangelical Free Church of Lander Wyoming
  • Date Funded: February 15, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $29,807

It is easy to find meeting space for a small group (about 50) or a large group (over 300) in Lander, but the in-between space is more difficult to find. The Lander Free Church fills just such a niche, offering a gather place for groups between 50 and 300. As the Free Church has become a more commonly used community asset—especially given its full kitchen—a gap in its functionality has been highlighted by community members: the lack of an outdoor space that could accommodate midsize groups. A church staffer reached out to LOR with an idea for addressing this gap by creating an outdoor space that would include a pavilion on a patio, grill, picnic tables and more. The venue would remain open for use to any community member (not just church goers) for a nominal deposit. LOR’s funding will help with the purchase of equipment and materials needed to transform the outdoor space into a community gathering spot.
