A Taos Elementary School Adds a Weeklong Dance Residency for Students

  • Local Champion: Ranchos Elementary School
  • Date Funded: December 16, 2022
  • Grant Amount: $2,873

Many youth activities that were shut down in Taos because of COVID-19 have not returned, leaving educators concerned about the physical, mental, and emotional health of young people. A local music teacher came up with one potential solution: Take advantage of National Dance Institute New Mexico‘s instructional programs to establish a weeklong dance residency for third through fifth graders at Ranchos Elementary School. The teacher approached LOR with the idea, and the foundation’s funding will support the hiring of an NDI New Mexico instructor for one week of dance instruction, rehearsal, and ultimately a public performance.
