A Simple Fence Improves Safety at a Popular Libby Community Venue

  • Local Champion: Libby Adventist Christian School
  • Date Funded: September 11, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $25,467

Libby locals regularly use the Adventist Church to host free community events, such as the outdoor clubs for kids, community classes, game nights, and more. The church, though, which is located about 100 feet from Hwy 37 and near the J Neals walking path, is becoming increasingly unsafe for those using the outdoor area. The busy road presents a hazard for children and as do some of the animals from the surrounding forest (mountain lions, bears, wolves, and moose) who wander into the outdoor area. Recognizing a simple solution—a six-foot fence—could greatly improve safety for community members using the venue, a volunteer at Libby Seventh Day Adventist Church reached out to LOR for help. LOR’s funding will support the construction of a fence that helps prevent accidents, wildlife encounters, and unauthorized access, allowing for safer outdoor activities and future projects like a community garden.
