A Safe Haven Baby Box Offers Hope for Weiser Infants

  • Local Champion: Weiser Memorial Hospital Foundation
  • Date Funded: December 15, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $7,500

Weiser Memorial Hospital staff wanted to build a safe haven baby box to provide a secure, anonymous way for struggling parents to surrender newborns, but logistics were a hurdle. To install the temperature-controlled unit, the hospital would have to modify an exterior hospital wall—no easy task. In need of support, hospital staff reached out to LOR with their idea for this life-saving option. LOR’s funding will help Weiser Memorial Hospital hire contractors and purchase the materials to modify the wall and integrate alarm systems. The Safe Haven Baby Box will immediately alert staff when an infant is surrendered, providing a safe alternative that can save lives.
