A Rabbit Rescue Hops to the Aid of Weiser’s Abandoned Bunnies

  • Local Champion: Nine Bun Bun Rabbit Rescue
  • Date Funded: November 14, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $9,937

Weiser residents do not have a place where they can surrender their pet rabbits. As a result, many release them near rivers, on agricultural lands, or around town, where they raid gardens, damage crops, and reproduce rapidly. One local animal advocate wanted to give residents a humane alternative to abandonment, so she reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help Nine Bun Bun Rabbit Rescue build a year-round housing and exercise facility complete with predator-proof fencing. The new rescue—the only rabbit facility in the area—will provide safe surrender and re-homing options for unwanted pets while also protecting local gardens and agriculture.
