A Paved Path Makes Weiser’s Community Pond Accessible

  • Local Champion: City of Weiser
  • Date Funded: March 17, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $20,000

Throughout much of the year, Weiser residents face mud, dirt, and unstable ground when trying to access the community fishing pond, creating significant barriers especially for older adults and people with disabilities. Staff with the city of Weiser saw how these conditions limited the use of this popular recreation area, so they reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help the city purchase asphalt to complete a paved path around the fishing pond. The addition will not only make the pond accessible year-round for walking, fishing, and exercise, but it will also connect to the Weiser River Pathway—a project LOR previously helped fund—creating an extended recreation network for all community members.
