A New Pavilion Makes Cortez-Area Trails More Inviting

  • Local Champion: Mancos Trails Group
  • Date Funded: November 28, 2022
  • Grant Amount: $19,950

While a new trail system on Bureau of Land Management property offers exciting recreational opportunities for Cortez residents, community members and visitors to the area are unlikely to make use of the amenity without an established trailhead and welcome area. To address the issue, locals wanted to install a shade structure that will offer picnic and changing areas as well as cover from the elements to protect mountain bikers, hikers, horseback riders and others accessing the trail. Funding from the LOR Foundation will be used to help build this type of pavilion, which has proved valuable at other trailheads throughout the area.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Mancos Valley Resources.
