A Hot Water Heater Helps Weiser Restore Senior Meal Service

  • Local Champion: Weiser Senior Citizens
  • Date Funded: November 29, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $2,630

Weiser Senior Citizens serves roughly 1,015 meals each month at the Weiser Senior Center, including another 650 through the nonprofit’s home delivery program. So, when the senior center’s water heater broke and halted these essential food services, many of Weiser’s seniors were at risk of missing meals. When one Weiser local heard that the Weiser Senior Center would have to close its kitchen, she reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help the Weiser Senior Center purchase and install a new water heater, ensuring the center’s volunteer-run kitchen can continue its essential support for elderly residents.
