A Community Dog Park Benefits Weiser’s Pets and People

  • Local Champion: Weiser River Animal Shelter & Rescue
  • Date Funded: June 20, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $17,975

Weiser residents lack a safe, enclosed public area where they can exercise their dogs and connect with other pet owners in the community. After years of residents advocating for a dog park, one dedicated volunteer decided to take action, organizing a committee that spent months identifying a location for a potential park. After securing city council approval for a site at the Weiser Park Complex, members of the group turned to LOR for help getting the park up and running. LOR’s funding will help the Weiser River Animal Shelter & Rescue purchase fencing, benches, waste stations, and a shade structure to create Weiser’s first dog park. The new community asset will provide a safe space for dogs to socialize and exercise while giving Weiser residents a place to gather and build connections with fellow pet owners.
