EXPLORE Taos Projects

Since 2014, LOR has launched the Rio Grande Water Fund, and it has supported organizations like Amigos Bravos, the Taos Land Trust, and Rocky Mountain Youth Corps in advancing locally–driven solutions to complex challenges facing the region. These groups and others have worked to:

  • Protect important community water sources across the Taos Valley by focusing on the critical hydrologic connections between forests, rivers, acequias and groundwater.
  • Support efforts to link residents to the outdoors, and expand trail networks so it’s safe to walk and bike in town, and access nearby public lands.
  • Encourage a vibrant downtown Taos by organizing local governments, nonprofits and citizens around the notion of working together to build a strong community core.
