Makeshift equipment was jeopardizing the ability of volunteers with the Libby Food Pantry to serve hundreds of households each month.
Focusing their time and money where they really matter, volunteers with the Libby Food Pantry try to make do. More than 95% of the pantry’s budget goes toward the food it distributes, requiring the group to rely on hand-me-downs from schools, churches, and other local groups for everything else. The problem is the donated equipment the food pantry receives often doesn’t meet the needs of volunteers. Outdated and makeshift equipment was causing hardship and safety concerns for the pantry’s elderly volunteers. So, one volunteer reached out to LOR with a solution: purchase proper stainless steel equipment. “It’s amazing that week after week after week, people show up and just give of themselves so that other people can benefit,” says Keith Iverson, a volunteer with the Libby Food Pantry. Watch the video below to discover how volunteers with the Libby Food Pantry are keeping their neighbors fed with support from LOR.
