A new infield grooming machine is helping coaches and volunteers with Libby Loggers American Legion Baseball save time and energy, allowing them to care for other baseball and softball fields in Libby and focus on teaching the game.

Home to Libby Loggers American Legion Baseball, Lee Gehring Field is a Libby institution. To keep the field in top condition for players and visitors, an army of volunteers and coaches devotes numerous hours to raking, watering, and other upkeep. But there are only so many hours in the day—and so many volunteers. With no efficient way to maintain Lee Gehring and the other seven baseball and softball fields in Libby, one coach came up with a solution and reached out to LOR with his idea. Now, an infield grooming machine is helping coaches and volunteers care for Libby’s baseball and softball fields, ensuring safe and quality play. “To say it does the work of four or five men or women is not an overstatement,” says Kelly Morford, head coach of Libby Loggers American Legion Baseball. Watch the video below and see how Morford and the Libby Loggers are improving fields for all Libby players with support from LOR.
