Workshop Series Supports Stewardship-Aligned Tourism Entrepreneurs in Taos

  • Local Champion: Downtown Taos
  • Date Funded: March 18, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $7,097

Taos entrepreneurs exploring tourism-focused business models often need structured guidance and mentorship to align with Destination Stewardship goals and access new public funding opportunities offered by the Town of Taos and Taos County. Without this support, some business owners have struggled to develop funding-ready proposals or translate stewardship values into viable operational plans.

To ensure equitable access to these resources, a staff member at Taos MainStreet developed a solution and reached out to LOR: a four-workshop cohort series providing technical assistance and mentorship to help entrepreneurs strengthen or launch stewardship-aligned tourism businesses.

With LOR’s support, Taos MainStreet will contract facilitators and industry experts to deliver comprehensive workshops covering business planning, financial projections, marketing strategies, and operational roadmaps—all grounded in Destination Stewardship principles. Up to 15 participants will complete the workshop series, receiving individualized technical assistance to refine their business plans and prepare grant applications. Completion of the series is required to access the $100,000 in pilot funding jointly committed by the Town of Taos and Taos County.

This structured pathway ensures that public funds support well-prepared, viable business concepts that provide clear community benefit while strengthening locally owned businesses within Taos’ visitor economy.
