Wellness Facility Equipment Supports Student and Staff Health at Taos Academy

  • Local Champion: Taos Academy Charter School
  • Date Funded: December 16, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $6,962

Taos Academy students and staff lacked a dedicated space for physical and mental health support. Reliance on limited or improvised spaces led to delayed care, reduced privacy, and increased stress, impacting academic engagement and overall well-being.

To help address this gap, a staff member identified a solution and reached out to LOR: fully equip a new Wellness Facility that was ready to open but lacked the furnishings and equipment needed to function effectively.

With support from LOR, Taos Academy will purchase equipment to outfit a nurse’s station, counseling office, and staff wellness room. The nurse’s station will include an exam table, a refrigeration unit, diagnostic tools, and essential medical supplies, while the counseling office will feature video-conferencing equipment and sound diffusers to support privacy. A staff wellness room will provide a restorative space with a massage chair and other amenities. This modest investment will move the facility across the finish line and activate the space, creating a more supportive school climate for the entire Taos Academy community.
