Batter Up! Batting Cages and a Backstop Grow Weiser Youth Baseball

  • Local Champion: Weiser High School Athletics
  • Date Funded: February 14, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $9,890

As far as youth sports go, cross country is cheap. Baseball is not. Weiser’s high school and middle school baseball programs have always had to provide their own funding, a problem that has left the teams with subpar equipment and hampered the local growth of the sport. Despite limited resources, both programs have been successful and Weiser youth are increasingly interested in baseball. One local parent wanted to ensure that more middle and high school students could participate. She reached out to LOR with the idea to purchase new equipment that would help players improve their game and stay safe. LOR’s funding will help Weiser High School purchase four batting cages, a portable backstop, and other equipment that will also be used by the middle school baseball program. Batter up!
