Water Meters Provide Essential Information on Impacts to Taos Aquifer

  • Local Champion: Arroyo Seco Mutual Domestic Water Users Association
  • Date Funded: March 29, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $18,300

When the Dona Ana Mutal Domestic Water Consumers Association (MDWCA) urgently needed to begin tracking water usage in 150 households connected to Taos’ main aquifer, a concerned resident contacted LOR for help installing water meters. While a state grant covered the cost of purchasing the meters, LOR’s support will enable the association to have them installed and connect them to software that will allow the MDWCA board to track, understand, and share a full picture of local water consumption and its impact on the county’s primary water source.
