UNM Taos Students Expand Their Reach in the Fast-Growing Film Industry

  • Local Champion: UNM Taos: Film and Digital Media Arts Department
  • Date Funded: May 26, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $8,000

The television and film industry is growing in northern New Mexico, and UNM Taos students have seized that momentum as part of the school’s Film and Digital Media Arts department. However, students have struggled to expand their reach because they lack the proper equipment to travel to shoots outside of Taos. An instructor from the school had an idea for solving that problem: purchase a trailer and a generator so the students could haul power and production equipment to more remote shoots, thus expanding the production contracts they can ink. With LOR’s help, the school purchased a cargo trailer and a solar generator which will help UNM Taos students remain at the forefront of a fast-growing industry.
