Training Equipment Helps Lander Swim Teams Work Smarter Against Well-Funded Competitors

  • Local Champion: A Lander local
  • Date Funded: June 2, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $7,260

In Lander, the high school swim teams are among the highest performing in the state, despite being at a disadvantage in terms of training; their competitors have more funding, better equipment, more lanes, more coaches, and advanced technology. At team meetings planning for the next year, both the girls and boys teams independently came to the same conclusion: reach out to LOR for help securing better training equipment, so they can work smarter instead of harder. That equipment includes new fins and paddles, as well as LumaLanes—a pacing technology new to Fremont County that allows swimmers to follow lights on the pool bottom, setting appropriate pace and spacing multiple swimmers efficiently in limited lanes. This collaboration between girls and boys teams represents the first time the programs have united to address shared training needs. LOR’s funding will help purchase fins, paddles, and LumaLanes.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Lander Community Foundation.
