Taos Locals Are Helping Youth Learn About Japanese Culture

  • Local Champion: Downtown Taos
  • Date Funded: November 8, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $4,750

Taos youth have limited opportunities to travel abroad and learn about international cultures and economies. It’s an issue that the Taos Youth Travel Club has tried to address over the past 16 years, taking local kids on trips around the world regardless of their economic status. In anticipation of planning a trip to Japan, the group will be conducting a series of workshops and showing films to educate locals about Japanese culture while also raising funds to support an upcoming trip to Japan. Funding from the LOR Foundation will be use to rent venue space and help purchase educational materials to support the events.

This project was fiscally sponsored by Downtown Taos.
