Personal Trainer Teaches Safe Weightlifting Techniques to Lander Seniors

  • Local Champion: Lander Senior Citizens Center
  • Date Funded: December 24, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $840

In Lander, a growing group of seniors regularly lifts weights together at the Senior Center, but many use improper form that risks injury. When a retired math teacher and active community member recognized this safety concern, she reached out to LOR with a plan to bring in professional instruction. A local physical trainer will work with the seniors over 12 weeks, teaching correct form, suggesting exercise modifications for individual needs, and recommending appropriate weight levels and progression schedules. While the group currently follows the same YouTube video each session, they’re eager to learn from an expert who can provide personalized guidance. The trainer will conduct initial and final assessments to measure progress, and participants aim to learn enough fundamentals to teach proper form to new members who join their ranks. LOR’s funding will help cover 12 weekly training sessions, ensuring this active group of Lander seniors can continue building strength safely and effectively.
