Pancake Trailer Upgrades Improve Safety and Efficiency for Community Events

  • Local Champion: Kiwanis Club of Lander
  • Date Funded: May 6, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $8,820

In Lander, residents flock to community events several times a year specifically for cheap, plentiful pancake breakfasts served by volunteers, with “There’s a pancake breakfast!” becoming a common refrain when the Kiwanis trailer appears. The trailer serves as a volunteer opportunity for organizations participating in Challenge for Charities to earn required hours. Long lines at popular events like Fourth of July foot races demonstrate demand, but many community members don’t know who provides these beloved breakfasts or what the proceeds support. After struggling with the trailer’s safety issues and inefficiencies for some time, a long-time volunteer had an idea to upgrade the equipment—particularly important as aging volunteers struggle with lifting heavy generators and working without proper shelving. Upgrades will include a dual-fuel generator that’s easier to handle, shelving to improve organization and reduce strain, a four-burner griddle to increase capacity, and a professional wrap that identifies Kiwanis while making the trailer more aesthetically pleasing. LOR’s funding helped purchase the generator, shelving hardware, griddle, water jugs, trailer wrap, and welding work, reducing setup time and eliminating heavy lifting while improving operational efficiency.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Lander Community Foundation.
