New Park Grills Restore Safe Cooking Options for Lander Community Gatherings

  • Local Champion: City of Lander, Wyoming
  • Date Funded: May 7, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $27,788

In Lander, the public gas grills at City Park and North Park have hosted countless family celebrations, employee appreciation events, and community gatherings like Brewfest and Fourth of July festivities for more than 20 years. However, years of heavy use without proper education on operation has damaged the equipment, creating potential safety hazards for residents. When the newly hired parks and recreation director noticed these deteriorating conditions, he reached out to LOR for support. LOR’s funding will help replace three commercial-grade gas grills and their gas lines with identical models that won’t require modifications to existing park shelters. The project also includes creating clear signage and educational materials about proper operation and implementing a regular maintenance plan. This comprehensive approach ensures that Lander residents can continue enjoying this popular park amenity safely for the next 25-plus years while protecting the city’s investment from preventable damage.
