New Exercise Equipment Expands Access to Wellness Classes for Taos Seniors

  • Local Champion: A Taos Local
  • Date Funded: September 23, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $3,952

Age Up Well Taos has grown steadily over the past five years and now draws as many as 36 participants to its Total Body Wellness and Chair Strength and Mobility classes—but limited equipment has kept the program from serving everyone who wants to participate. Recognizing the growing demand, a longtime Taos community volunteer came up with a solution: purchase additional exercise equipment to expand existing classes and launch a new Men’s Total Body Wellness class, increasing access to free, community-based programming that supports strength, balance, mobility, and social connection for older adults across Taos. LOR’s funding helped Age Up Well Taos purchase hand weights, yoga mats, exercise balls, balance sticks, and therabands, giving the program the capacity to welcome more older adults and better meet demonstrated demand.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Taos Whole Community Health.
