New Equipment Helps Lander Launch a Student Sports Medicine Training Program

  • Local Champion: Fremont County School District #1
  • Date Funded: February 23, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

In 2023, Fremont County School District #1 hired an athletic trainer to meet the needs of student athletes (previously these had been met by a contractor) throughout the district. Upon joining the school district, the trainer also launched a sports medicine class for students; already interest has grown from 19 students to 40. Trouble is, the equipment in the athletic training room—where as many as 20 students a week are treated— is old and insufficient for both treating and training students. The trainer reached out to LOR for help with a solution that would make training and treating young athletes much easier: new treatment tables and a taping station. LOR’s funding will support the purchase of that equipment.
