New Equipment and Scholarships Support Lander’s Growing Youth Soccer Program

  • Local Champion: Lander Valley Youth Soccer
  • Date Funded: April 16, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $9,840

In Lander, youth soccer has experienced remarkable growth in recent years, with hundreds of kids now participating in the Lander Valley Youth Soccer program. While this growth is exciting, it has created logistical challenges—referees have difficulty distinguishing teams without official jerseys, there aren’t enough goals to accommodate all the games, and many families can’t afford the summer skills camps that would help young players develop. When a volunteer, newer to the league, recognized these growing pains, she reached out to LOR with a solution that would let the program keep expanding: additional equipment and scholarships for players. LOR’s funding will help purchase reversible jerseys for teams to share season after season, additional goals to create another playing field, and scholarships for 75 players to attend summer soccer camp. This investment allows the league to maintain its commitment to affordability—just $21.50 per season—while improving organization, expanding capacity, and creating skill-building opportunities for all Lander kids who want to play.
