New Diving Board Ensures Safety for Lander’s Aquatics Programs

  • Local Champion: Fremont County School District #1
  • Date Funded: February 27, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $7,400

The diving well at Lander’s school district pool serves diverse users—from preschoolers learning basic diving skills to competitive high school athletes, plus community members during recreational swim hours. Behind the scenes, however, there’s an important safety concern: diving boards need replacement every six years, and the current board is already a year past its recommended lifespan. When the diving coach discussed this safety risk with a parent volunteer, they reached out to LOR for support. LOR’s funding will help purchase and install a new diving board immediately, preventing the potential serious injuries that can occur when aging boards weaken or break during use. This timely replacement not only protects current divers but also gives the school district time to re-implement their six-year rotation schedule, ensuring long-term safety for this popular community resource.
