New Anesthesia Machine Expands Free Spay/Neuter Services in Taos

  • Local Champion: Spay Taos
  • Date Funded: September 17, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $7,276

Since LOR helped establish Spay Taos in 2024, the clinic has completed more than 6,500 surgeries—but growing demand for spay/neuter services across the Taos area is now causing appointments to be booked several weeks out. The clinic has responded by bringing in additional veterinarians, but limited anesthesia equipment in the prep area has become a bottleneck, restricting the number of surgeries the team can complete each day. Recognizing this gap, a clinic staff member reached out to LOR with a solution: purchase and install an additional anesthesia machine to increase the clinic’s capacity to perform procedures that help address pet overpopulation before additional unwanted litters are born. LOR’s funding will help Spay Taos purchase and install the machine, increasing surgery capacity, reducing appointment wait times, and expanding access to free spay/neuter services throughout the Taos area.
