Multi-Use Arts Space Expands Creative Opportunities for Taos Youth

  • Local Champion: Taos Center for Arts
  • Date Funded: September 25, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $27,446

Many young people and community members in Taos lack access to a dedicated space where they can build creative skills, use professional equipment, and participate in arts-based education and career training. Without this kind of resource, it’s hard for youth to gain hands-on experience, develop portfolios, and explore opportunities in the creative economy.

To help fill this gap, a staff member at Taos Center for the Arts (TCA) developed a plan to transform 132 Paseo—a historic building next to the Taos Inn—into the town’s first multi-use arts enrichment and education space, and reached out to LOR for support in equipping the facility.

With LOR’s support, TCA will purchase furniture, technology, and equipment to fully activate 132 Paseo as a creative learning hub. This centrally located facility will serve up to 50 youth interns annually and be available to educators, nonprofits, and community groups. The space will include computers, printers, a digital whiteboard, flexible work tables, and outdoor gathering areas. It will support the growing Inter-Arts Internship Program—which has doubled in size this year—alongside workshops, community programs, and collaborations with local arts organizations.
