Monte Vista’s “Church Project” Creates a Community Art Space for All

  • Local Champion: A Monte Vista resident
  • Date Funded: November 10, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $4,842

There are very few ways for Monte Vista residents to access creative spaces or free art classes, and in many cases locals struggle to reach opportunities in neighboring communities. To address this problem, one resident is creating a community art space—the Church Project—in an old church in Monte Vista where she hopes to bring community members together. In addition to offering weekly workshops, the Church Project will host community events. However, in order invite the community in, she needed supplies including acrylic canvases, watercolor pads, easels, brush sets, and more. Funding from LOR was used to purchase those supplies and create a new space for locals to engage with the artistic community.

This project is fiscally sponsored by the SLV Development Resources Group.
