Monte Vista Students Will Throw Clay as Part of a New Ceramics Class

  • Local Champion: Monte Vista Schools
  • Date Funded: October 23, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $8,946

Middle schoolers in Monte Vista have limited options when it comes to art classes, though many students have expressed a desire to learn pottery and ceramics skills. Both the principle and one of the school’s art teachers are aware of this issue, and they reached out to the LOR Foundation at the beginning of the 2023 school year for help. With LOR’s support, the school will purchase a kiln and additional ceramics supplies to start a pottery class at the middle school, something that will be incorporated into the curriculum in 2024 and will help students explore new artistic frontiers.
