Monte Vista Families Get a Head Start on Health with Community Exercise Equipment

  • Local Champion: Monte Vista Community Center
  • Date Funded: October 17, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $2,000

Many Monte Vista community members cannot afford access to exercise equipment. This is particularly true for the families and caretakers involved in the local Head Start program, which is housed inside of the community center. Noticing this, a Head Start staffer came up with a solution: What if the community center could also house exercise equipment the families could use at no cost? The equipment would also be available to the community at large to use. LOR’s funding will help support the purchase of a treadmill to help get this initiative off the ground.
