Mamas Group Expands Support for Monte Vista Mothers

  • Local Champion: A Monte Vista Local
  • Date Funded: June 18, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $12,000

Many mothers in Monte Vista experience isolation, stress, and limited access to supportive spaces where they can connect with others and build meaningful relationships. After hearing from local mothers about childcare challenges, financial strain, and feelings of overwhelm, a longtime community member proposed creating a Mama’s Support Group to provide a welcoming space for connection and access to resources. LOR’s funding helped launch monthly support gatherings with childcare, develop a bilingual resource guide for families, establish a children’s room at The Church Project, create an emergency assistance fund for mothers in crisis, and host community-centered self-care and holiday events. The program brings mothers together through regular meetings, crafting workshops, peer support, and practical resources—reducing isolation and building a network of mutual support among Monte Vista families.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Optimystics Citizens Action Network.
