Lander Launches an Affordable Community Dance Team for Youth

  • Local Champion: Lander local
  • Date Funded: October 11, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $6,333

Dance provides not only a fun way for young people to stay active, but also helps foster connections and build confidence. Trouble is the cost of classes, uniforms, and competitions can be a barrier to many Lander youth. Recognizing this challenge, one local Lander teen (a passionate dancer herself) came up with an idea: launch a community dance team with free classes and clinics available to all Lander youth. Taught by a group of Central Wyoming College students who are eager to give back to their community, the Tiny Dance Team classes would be capped at 40 students and have six instructors. LOR’s funding will help cover the cost of equipment like uniforms and pompoms, as well as meeting supplies like refreshments and decor for performances.

This project is fiscally sponsored by the Lander Community Foundation
