Lander Expands a Toy Library to Make Room For Family Connections

  • Local Champion: Covenant Presbyterian Church
  • Date Funded: November 21, 2022
  • Grant Amount: $14,175

The Toy Library at Lander’s Covenant Presbyterian Church, which provides a wide range of toys parents can borrow at no cost, has become an informal gathering space for families with preschoolers, an entry point for families new to town, and a warm place to be during the long winters. However the Toy Library does not have space to safely accommodate a lot of interaction: The cluttered space is both a little hazardous and also deters parents from lingering long enough to have supportive conversations with other Landerites. So one of the program’s volunteers came up with a simple solution: add a shed for storage for the Library’s many toys. LOR’s funding will help purchase shelving, storage bins, storage shed, and educational materials for parents to provide a warm, inviting connection point for young families.
