Lander Events Get a Boost With a New, Free Storage Shed for Nonprofits and Community Groups

  • Local Champion: Lander Community Foundation
  • Date Funded: June 14, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

For several years, the Lander Community Foundation (LCF) has been storing event equipment (think race timers, tents, tables, and more) available to the Lander community in two small storage units. These units also contain equipment owned by six other nonprofits that is available for use by other groups in town. There are several problems with this storage arrangement, though: the units are currently full, leaving no room for growth; they’re not well-organized and difficult to load equipment into and out of safely; they’re across town from each other and not climate-controlled (which affects the longevity of tools like race timers); and they’ve become expensive, nearly doubling in price. To solve for this, LCF has worked with the city to secure space at the rodeo grounds to build additional storage but needed a little help to launch. LOR’s funding will help pay for the equipment and professional services needed to build the new storage shed, which will be climate-controlled, semi-permanent, and free for Lander nonprofits and community groups.
