Hospitality Training Strengthens Libby’s Workforce

  • Local Champion: Montana Department of Labor & Industry
  • Date Funded: July 19, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $5,100

Many Libby employers continue to face labor shortages, but in conversations with local businesses Libby’s liaison for the Montana Department of Labor and Industry noticed that the problem wasn’t finding applicants. Instead, the issue was that local employers weren’t getting applicants who had critical soft skills. Hoping to open a new labor pool, the liaison developed a plan to offer local hospitality training for Libby workers. LOR’s funding helped to cover the cost of a trainer and their travel, as well as refreshments for participants. The three-hour trainings will take place in summer 2024, fall 2024, and winter 2025, helping Libby’s prospective workers gain the intangible skills they needed to be successful employees.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Kootenai Country Montana.
