Homemade Smartboards Bring Classroom Technology to Libby Teachers and Students

  • Local Champion: Libby K-12 Schools
  • Date Funded: June 20, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $7,013

K-12 education is constantly evolving, as is the technology that supports teachers and students. The problem is new technology is often out of reach for many rural Mountain West school districts. Teachers at Libby Public Schools have been eyeing ways to incorporate new technology like smartboards into their classrooms, but their efforts have been limited by the expense. So, one Libby Middle High School math teacher came up with an innovative and effective solution: make homemade smartboards. LOR’s funding will help Libby Middle High School purchase new monitors, touchscreens, and other supplies that will be combined and then paired with Google Classroom to create functional smartboards for three classrooms. Teachers will be able to make notes available to students and parents in real time and as an archive, improving instruction and keeping students and their families engaged inside and outside of the classroom.
